OVERVIEW

BMWC is an industrial construction company seeking an Estimating Manager to join the Project Services team. This position allows you to utilize your skills and expertise to perform estimates of labor, material, and costs for projects across the industries that BMWC serves and provide leadership to the estimating department.

You will be part of a top-performing project services team and play a crucial role in leading our estimating department, nationwide, in complex mechanical construction projects ranging from $10M to $100M in direct-hire construction. You will lead a team of experienced professionals, work jointly with operations managers, area managers, business development, and the virtual design group.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Corporate Estimating Manager, you will:

  • Lead and oversee team of estimators responsible for developing accurate project estimates.
  • Identify clients’ needs, preferences, and hot buttons to incorporate into bids.
  • Collaborate with appropriate leadership to review bids, determining appropriate cost and profit margins.
  • Ensure company safety standards, quality, and compliance programs are considered in estimation process.
  • Ensure all contract terms and conditions including commercial terms and craft labor terms are reflected in bids.
  • Incorporate benchmark data, trends, and historical pricing to generate detailed cost estimates.
  • Analyze project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service needs.
  • Track post-bid analysis and internal metrics to identify areas of strength and improvement to facilitate a best-in-class win rate.
  • Communicate effectively with necessary stakeholders throughout the estimating process.
  • Consult with project teams on complex scope of work and change orders.
  • Develop and implement a workflow and system for scheduling and processing estimate requests, companywide.
  • Develop scope and responsibility breakdowns and assign team members to successfully execute bids and manage workloads involving multiple bids at any given time.
  • Lead estimating department, motivating team members, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Manage employee development process, fostering a culture of continuous improvement & excellence, aligning with BMWC’s core value of “People”.
  • Champion strong communication, collaboration, accountability, and teamwork within Estimating department.
  • Lead departmental improvement processes.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred; May be waived in lieu of equivalent experience in mechanical/piping estimating.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience in construction industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in construction estimating.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with estimating software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate closely with project and preconstruction teams.
